Now in its 2nd year, the UTCT flagship 100 miler is a beast of a course, trust us, we were on the start line last year and it's not to be taken lightly!
The Float Ultra Trail Cape Town 100 miler training program is a targeted plan catering towards this beautiful and scenic 167k ultra that encompasses the slopes of Table Mountain National Park, running deep into the Cape Peninsula area.
A solid 7850m of D+ requires some hefty hill sessions for which this 16 week training plan caters for. Varied terrain is also taken into account within your long runs as we average 5 sessions per week, gradually upping your VO2 engine thereafter building on your endurance.
Our structured 16 week plan is broken down into BASE, BUILD, PEAK and TAPER blocks, with sufficient rest and recovery in between.
Hill repeats and speed work are a weekly staple, having you teach the body to operate swiftly and efficiently out there on the course. Make those hills your friend, hah!
The aspect of night running is trained for too as this race has you running over 1 full night with some athletes going well into the second night.

Another notch on the Float team’s bedpost, we’ve taken our experience and created a race-targeted plan catering towards this scenic 100k ultra that cruises along the slopes of Table Mountain and the Cape Peninsula.
Our structured 14-week plan is broken down into BASE, BUILD, PEAK and TAPER blocks with sufficient rest and recovery in between.
5,000m of D+ and varied terrain requires targeted training and this is what we have laid out, with an average of 5 sessions per week throughout the plan.

We also provide loads of running tips and advice gained from our multiple years on the trails of Table Mountain and around the world. With over 30 trails longer than 100km between us, we know how to train smart and have you at the start line physically peaking!

Being finishers of the original 65k, we know what it takes to get around this beautiful but tough ultra that kicks off with some monster climbs and ends with a Jack Black beer in town!
The Float Ultra Trail Cape Town 55km training program is a race-targeted and structured 12-week plan broken down into BASE, BUILD, PEAK and TAPER blocks, each with sufficient rest and recovery in between.
Steep descents and technical terrain requires targeted training and this is what we have in store, with an average of 5 sessions per week to train your legs and body to run efficiently via various hill repeats and tempo sessions.
We aim to train smart and have you at the start line physically peaking, building you up gradually to be a solid ultra athlete by the end of the plan.

Although not technically an ultra, this race requires respect and solid training to complete. Overall it has the steepest gradient of the 5 UTCT races and we’ll make sure your quads are ready for this beast!
The Float Ultra Trail Cape Town 35km training program is a targeted plan catering towards this beautiful and scenic race, looping around the Table Mountain National Park.
Our 12-week plan is broken down into BASE, BUILD, PEAK and TAPER blocks with sufficient rest and recovery in between.
Steep descents and technical terrain requires specific training and this is what we have in store, with 4 to 5 sessions per week and loads of trail running tips littered throughout the plan.
We train your legs and body to run efficiently and have included multiple hill repeats and tempo sessions, building you up gradually to be a solid athlete by the end of the plan.

The shortest of the UTCT series, but not the easiest, so don’t get cocky! Monster climbs over some technical terrain, you better be prepared for this one!
And you will be with the Float Ultra Trail Cape Town 23km training program. Our 12-week plan is broken down into BASE, BUILD, PEAK and TAPER blocks with sufficient rest and recovery in between, and is targeted towards the two long climbs from Constantia to the finish.
The steep ascents and descents along with the technical terrain requires specific training and advice, and this is what we have in store with an average of 4 sessions per week and a ton of running advice from years of running the trails of Table Mountain dotted throughout the plan.
We train your legs and body to run efficiently and have included multiple hill repeats and tempo sessions, building you up gradually to be a solid athlete by the end of the plan.
We train smart, maximising the time you have to spare to train each week, and will have you at the start line physically peaking.
