The course entails a loaded first half with the majority of climbs within the first 20km. And with nearly 25km of flat/catchwater you’d think this would be an easy latter half? But you would be wrong. Very wrong.
During our 12 week program we train you up with sessions that include numerous hill repeats, tempo sets and longer weekend road/trail runs. We want you going into the event with sufficient leg strength and solid hip flexors to handle both the long initial uphills, as well as the longer flat sections near the latter stages of the race.
We incorporate a mix of trail and tar during our training to suit course profile and terrain. You’ll find during our program we have included a number of fast finish (FF) longer runs which prepare the body for that evil catchwater that all racers tend to dread. Don’t be that runner. Don’t suffer (as much).
